Whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure, First Class provides you with a comfortable and spacious environment where you can take time out and relax.
For our business customer, First Class enables you to use your journey time productively - working, preparing for a meeting or even conducting a meeting in a conducive environment.
We offer a number of benefits to customers travelling First Class:

• Reclining, spacious leather seats
• Quiet, relaxed atmosphere
• Tables at every seat, with power sockets for your laptop or mobile phone
• Room to work or relax
• At-seat service from one of our Customer Hosts on many journeys
• Complimentary refreshments throughout your journey
• A selection of retail products from our Express Café can be purchased at your seat
• Complimentary newspaper
• Exclusive access to First Class lounges at London Paddington and Cardiff Central stations
Quiet Carriage
Carriage G on board all our High Speed services is a dedicated First Class Quiet Carriage, allowing you to relax in peace. Please respect the wishes of other customers when using this carriage by not using mobile phones or audio equipment and keeping noise to a minimum.
Something to eat or drink?
Customers travelling First Class can enjoy a range of complimentary light refreshments, served at your seat. If you would like something more substantial from our Express Café, then our Customer Host will be happy to take your order.
On most high speed services refreshments are are served at your seat from Monday to Friday until 1900 each day. After this time, or at weekends, present your ticket at the Express Café where our Customer Host will be happy to serve you.
Please note, complimentary refreshments are subject to availability and there is no catering on services between London Paddington and Oxford which start or end at Oxford.
On trains with Travelling Chef services, you can order items from the menu and have them served at your seat, including hot toasted baguettes and sandwiches, fresh salads and soup of the day, as well as other tasty offers.
For the ultimate dining experience, why not try our Pullman Restaurant? Choose from a range of superbly cooked dishes from our à la carte menus. The Pullman Restaurant is available on selected services on weekdays to and from the West Country.
Fares and Ticketing
We offer a number of First Class tickets, based on your travel requirements:
First Anytime Return / Single
Our Open tickets offer complete flexibility with no restrictions on the times of travel. These tickets can be bought at anytime up to the point of travel. If you have a return ticket it is valid for up to one month from the date of the outward journey.
First Off-Peak
First Off-Peak Return tickets are discounted tickets that you can buy at any time before you start your journey. These tickets can be used on all off-peak services and you are not required to specify which trains you are travelling on. The return portion of your ticket is valid for up to one month from the date of outward travel.

Executive Tickets
Executive tickets are available from most stations served by First Great Western services to London Paddington. They include a First Anytime Open train ticket, travel on the London Underground in Zone 1, car parking at the origin station, a £5 on-board catering voucher and seat reservation. To purchase these tickets visit your local station or call our Telesales on 08457 000 125.
Weekend First upgrade
Upgrade from Standard to First Class at weekends and Bank Holidays for a supplement of £5 to £25 dependant on journey length. You can buy in advance at ticket offices and on board High Speed services.
Luggage
If you’d like to travel without the worry of taking bulky luggage with you, why not use the Carry My Luggage service?
~*Please note, complimentary items are not normally served at-seat on journeys between Plymouth and Penzance, but can be obtained from the Buffet on the presentation of a valid First Class ticket.
